📆 It all started because all four of us signed up for the course at SEAMEO RECSAM in 1996. Though we attended different courses, being the few Singaporeans in the foreign land had strengthened our bonds.

It's a celebration of 20 years of friendship. Cheers! 🎉 🎉 🎉

Woodlands Train Checkpoint & The Train Journey

We got the train ticket via the website. However, we need to exchange the digital version (at the counter on the ground floor, near the lift) to the actual ticket:
Note: The online booking required one to submit the passport number! It was almost similar to the getting an air ticket!

Though it was a weekday morning, the train station was quite busy.

Though the departure time stated on the ticket was 8 am and ticket holders were informed to report at least 30 minutes before departure, the queue only started moving about 10 minutes to 8 am.

One Learning Point: As long as one is punctual, one would not be denied to go through the customs to board the train. The train would wait till the customs had cleared all. Of course, if one is later than the given time, he/ she would risk not even being able to get through the customs.

It was a breeze - to clear two migration points under one roof. First, we went through the Singapore migration checkpoint and had our luggage scanned. After passing through a passage way, we cleared the Malaysian migration checkpoint. All went smoothly and the officer was pleasant and courteous - that definitely made a difference to start the journey well :)

Eventually, at around 8.30 am, the train started to depart...

Here's the speed of the train, as it started to accelerate...

The train was not new... but the seat was quite spacious and in general, it was clean.

Though a seat number was obtained at the point of booking, it seemed like everyone knew that it was free seating... it seemed no one bother to look for their own seat or insist on the seat they had. With our luggage, of course, we took advantage of this and got the first row in the car. That also explained why it worth to be punctual and board the train early, as we saw a handful of people stood throughout the journey, though the actual train journey only lasted for about 5 minutes.
